Here's more information about the event: On November 5 at 4:30 pm, the Washington Park Conservancy and the City of Albany will be hosting the 2nd Annual Lantern Parade in Washington Park, bringing arts, community, and warmth to the autumn evening. This family-friendly event is free, and all are welcome to join in as we gather to walk around the Washington Park Lake with lanterns at dusk. In the weeks leading up to the event, the community is invited to craft hand-made lanterns at free workshops. Lantern-making workshops, led by volunteers, will be free to the public and held at libraries and other community venues. We will be constructing lanterns using recycled soda bottles, tissue paper, glue, sand, tealight candles, and pipe cleaners. On November 5, participants will add sand and candles (glow sticks for children) to their lanterns.
